Kindness

Lucy Martin / 11

When I dropped my crayon box

in rainbow slivers on the floor

One person stopped to help me gather rolling crayons

a whole sixty-four!

Crawling on our hands and knees picking up slivers of green and blue.

When someone spills their crayons

I will stop to help them,

and I hope you will too.

Kindness can be shown in many different ways

from a hand on the shoulder,

To a pat on the back,

Or simply saying you're there for them.

Saying one kind word can make someone's day.

Kind hearts are gardens,

and kind words are the roots.

I want to grow in this garden,

don’t you?
